Update on Mothers Day Present

I just wanted to show you an update on my Mothers Day present. It isn’t 100% finished because of the rain. It has been raining her all the time. This is the coldest spring I remember. Snow then rain… then rain then snow. /sigh  The second we have at least 3 days in a row with a forecast of sun we will finish this project.

THANK YOU MAX!  I really do love it.

This is the front view. Those are tomatoes!

Here is a side view so you can see it better.

This is one of the garden boxes. That is squash on one side, and beans on the other with the trellises. Look at those cute beans!

Here is a close-up of the beans.

This is the view of our grape vines. We planed these about 5 years ago. We are putting bricks as edging. Look how cute. These grape vines get HUGE.

This is the last planter box. These cute little green sprouts are lettuce. When they get bigger we will have to thin them out a bit. I can’t wait to see how lettuce grows. I’ve never planted it before.

  • lovely you guys all your hard work looks good. We have some peas and lettuce going too it is always a challenge to see what will grow up here at 7500 ft. I agree about the lettuce being so cute with their petite little first leaves. Love the grapes as well our in-laws have beautiful concord vines back east.

  • Okay so I am totally behind…you have posted some great stuff!
I love the planters, they look so good. What a great idea if you don’t have a large garden area. I will be looking forward to the plants progress.
I loved, loved, loved your post about the family memorial games. How fun is that. It is so fun to see pictures of Sally. She looks so great…it has been so long since I have seen her. It looks like you guys had a great time. You are part of a really neat family.
I hope to make it up in July for the get together…it all depends on this baby. I will keep you updated.

  • So I want the update on how your lettuce goes. I tried lettuce from seed in Oregon and it just didn’t work out very well. I tried it here with starters and we loved it.

It looks awesome. I just love the smell of dirt!
